Tall Ships 2008

Cannon Fire

Tall Ships Tacoma, 2008
July 3rd to 7th, 2008 - Tacoma, WA

Tall Ships Tacoma 2008 was held July 3-7 along the Foss Waterway in Tacoma.
More than 30 historic sailing vessels - including the USCG Eagle, HMS Bounty,
the Niña and The Lady Washington – participated inthe event.

Festival Overview - Some of my best photos from Tacoma Tall Ships 2008

July 3rd - Quartermaster Harbor and the Parade of Sail - Photos from on board the Virginia V during the assembly of ships in Quartermaster Harbor and during the Parade of Sail

July 4th - General / Fireworks - Some general photos from the festival, and July 4th fireworks as seen from the top deck of the Steamship Virginia V.

July 5th - Four Ship Cannon Battle - During an afternoon rain storm, the Lady Washington, Amazing Grace, Lynx and Hawaiian Chieftan fought an impressive cannon battle, with all four ships in the fight.

July 5th - Sunset Cannon Battle - The clouds part, showing very dramtic "storm light". After the cannon battle, the sunset cast a red glow over the Olympic Mountains. A magnificent and very memorable evening!

July 6th - Lady Washington Cannon Battle - On board the Lady Washington for the afternoon cannon battle, Sunday, July 6th.

Steamship Virginia V - While not a "Tall Ship", the Virginia V is a classic vessel with a lot of history in the Puget Sound area.
